Au fost anuntate nominalizarile pentru MTV Video Music Awards 2024, ceremonia care premiaza cele mai bune videoclipuri si vizualuri din muzica pop lansata in ultimul an. Lista este condusa detasat de Taylor Swift, cel mai mare artist din lume la acest moment — la capitolul vanzari de bilete la concerte, clasamente muzicale, popularitate si impact cultural.

Aflata in turneul mondial “Eras Tour” care va deveni in curand cel mai bine vandut turneu din istorie, Swift are 10 nominalizari la VMA 2024 la cele mai importante categorii: videoclipul anului, cantecul anului, artistul anului si cel mai bun pop. Anul acesta a dominat clasamentele americane, albumul The Tortured Poets Department a petrecut 12 saptamani consecutive in fruntea Billboard 200 iar anul trecut a castigat 9 trofee din cele 11 nominalizari pe care le-a avut la MTV VMA 2023. Astfel, se poate afirma ca este favorita sa castige majoritatea premiilor si anul acesta.

Swift este nominalizata in special pentru videoclipul “Fortnight” pe care l-a lansat in colaborare cu Post Malone, rapperul primind la randul lui 9 nominalizari.

Pe langa “Fortnight”, Malone se bucura de o nominalizare si alaturi de cantaretul de muzica Country Morgan Wallen, impreuna au lansat hitul “I Had Some Help” care a atins pozitia suprema in clasamentele nord-americane. Insa “Fortnight” are toate sansele sa castige toate premiile importante la VMA 2024 — inclusiv cel mai bun montaj, cea mai buna directie creativa, cea mai buna imagine si cea mai buna regie —, videoclipul fiind gandit ca un mini-film in alb-negru.

Pe lista nominalizarilor se afla celelalte doua creatoare de hituri mari din 2024: Ariana Grande are 6 nominalizari cu “We Can’t Be Friends (Wait for Your Love)” si “The Boy Is Mine” iar Sabrina Carpenter (cel mai difuzat artist al momentului in SUA si Europa) are la randul ei 6 nominalizari pentru hiturile “Espresso” si “Please Please Please” (in videoclipul caruia apare si actorul Barry Keoghan).

Fiind unul dintre artistii care a definit era MTV a anilor 2000, Eminem revine in lista MTV VMA cu 6 nominalizari pentru “Houdini”, primul single de pe albumul “The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce)”.

Printre artistii cu mai multe nominalizari se numara si Megan Thee Stallion (5), SZA (5), LISA (4), Teddy Swims (4), Dua Lipa (3), Benson Boone (3), Anitta (3), Tyla (3) si GloRilla (3).

Pe langa Swift, Grande, Carpenter si Eminem, favorita acestei editii MTV VMA este si Chappell Roan, o artista a carei muzica si prestatii live au devenit virale de mai multe ori in decursul ultimelor trei luni. 

Desi are numai doua nominalizari pentru “cel mai bun debut” si “cea mai buna prestatie de promovare” cu Red Wine Supernova, Chapell Roan ar putea fi una dintre aparitiile cheie ale galei de decernare a premiilor care va avea loc pe 10 septembrie la New York, fiind transmisa live pe MTV. Chappell starneste tipul de entuziasm pe care publicul l-a avut pentru Lady Gaga in primul ei an de cariera, avand o abordare similara in ceea ce priveste costumele ei de scena excentrice si pe alocuri kitchoase in mod intentionat. Insa difera la capitolul muzica, Chappell Roan compune piese pop cu influente alternative si indie, mesajul ei fiind foarte diferit deoarece este queer, canta despre relatiile pe care le are cu femei si barbati deopotriva.

Asa cum s-a intamplat si la editia de anul trecut, fanii muzicii pop, rock si hip-hop pot vota in 15 categorii neutre, fara gen masculin sau feminin. Votarea se desfasoara pe vote.mtv.com pana pe 30 august in timp ce categoria “cel mai bun debut” va fi deschisa pana in seara evenimentului, pe 10 septembrie.
