Transylvania Calling 2012 – Rasnov

Gathering of The Tribes – Transylvania Calling e un eveniment anual, organizat anul acesta la Cheisoara/Rasnov langa Brasov. Festivalul organizat anual inca din 2004 se adreseaza amatorilor de muzica electronica, in toate formele ei, dar si iubitorilor de natura, de party intr-un cadru inedit. Transylvania Calling 2012 va avea loc intre 27 august si 3 septembrie 2012. 

2012. So Here We Are…

 

Much is written about this year, and the expectations are possibly higher than ever before, as humanity appears to be balancing on a very fine edge. Some people say that everything went just fine, everything was always under control and we simply haven’t reached the other side of this mess so we could see it. 

 

Some people say that the whole thing is totally out of control and can pretty much blow up any minute now. However, at the end of the day, just like any other year, this year will become what ever you make of it. Humanity indeed has a collective journey to make and a massive collective challenge in front of her, but our own individual life journeys continue. And where ever you are, that is where your individual journey is, so go and make the best of it.

 

Life goes on for Transylvania Calling as well. 2011 was a very challenging year for us. Many things did not go well that year and the best of intentions did not help us. We made some poor decisions in the early planning stages which ultimately manifested in difficult situations and outcomes for many people involved.

 

This is how life is. We live, and we learn. Since we started in 2004, we built up to Transylvania 2009 which according to most people was the best Transylvania Calling edition ever. The word about this little festival spread around the planet and those who were there had an experience of a lifetime. 2007 was also a really nice event. We still carry our memories from these events in our heart and on our hard drives in forms of pictures and movies.

 

Your smiles and happy tears is what brought us to the decision that, of course there will be another Transylvania Calling! One rough year is not an excuse to give up what has become a legacy, a tradition that many people love with all of their heart. We’ve heard the stories, we’ve seen the smiles, we danced with you in the rain and in the sun, and we know you want us to go on.

But we have a promise to make this time and that is that we are going to make Transylvania Calling much, much more accessible for you. We feel that we need to simplify the entire festival, and to literally bring it more down to earth from the high mountain tops.

 

Everything will be much easier this time. For one thing, civilization and the next town (Rasnov) will be 20 minutes away, instead of 2-5 hours. The weather will also be nicer and more predictable due the lower altitude, the road to TC is shorter and better, the logistics will be easier for crew, artists, shops and visitors, and essentially many things will contribute to a festival that potentially will become the best TC in history. The new location has literally made us feel like a marathon runner who has been carrying 40kg in a backpack for the last 10km and suddenly lost all that weight, and we are able to run, faster and longer than ever before!

 

So, this year, the festival will take place at Cheisoara (pronounced “ke-ey-shoara”) in the woods near Rasnov (near Brasov), at 800m altitude, less than 150 km (2.5 hours) from Bucharest. The main road is connected  to the festival area through a short gravel road (3 km), recently improved and drivable by any type of car.

 

We would be absolutely delighted to see you around another time. From our point of view, you – the people – truly make out the magnificent core of what Transylvania Calling has become. We merely do our best to provide the space for you to show us what Transylvania Calling really is all about. And as we have seen, you have clearly shown us this in the sunshine as well as in the rain.

 

Join us around the campfires, in the chillout or the sacred spaces. Break through your layers and crack up that beautiful smile of yours on the dance floors of Transylvania Calling. We work the whole year fueled by the memories from that smile, and we can’t wait to see it once again, the summer of 2012, just outside of Rasnov, Transylvania, Romania.
