Serialele care au obtinut cele mai multe nominalizari sunt: American Horror Story: Asylum, (FX), – 17 nominalizări, producţia HBO Game of thrones – 16 nominalizări, iar serialul Homeland, a primit 11 nominalizări. Serialul House of Cards, produs de Netflix, cu Kevin Spacey in rol principal a primit 9 nominalizari.

Premiile Primetime Emmy sunt acordate de Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, si asa cum zice si denumirea, recompenseaza excelenta programelor de televiziune americane difuzate in prime time. Cea de-a 65-a editie a Galei Primetime Emmy 2013 va avea loc in data de 22 septembrie.
