Actorii Tony Hale si Sheryl Lee Ralph, alaturi de Cris Abego, presedintele Academiei de Televiziune din SUA, au anuntat aseara nominalizarile pentru Premiile Emmy 2024.

Asa cum era de asteptat, “The Bear” este una dintre cele mai apreciate productii TV ale anului cu 23 de nominalizari, stabilind un nou record pentru cele mai multe nominalizari obtinute de un show de comedie. Anterior, recordul era detinut de “30 Rock” care a primit 22 de mentiuni in 2009.

Recordul istoric de 32 de nominalizari intr-un singur an, detinut de serialul „Game of Thrones” de la HBO din 2016, ramane ferm in picioare.

Pentru cea mai buna comedie, „The Bear” va concura cu „Abbott Elementary”, „Curb Your Enthusiasm”, „Hacks”, „Only Murders in the Building”, „Palm Royale”, „Reservation Dogs” si „What We Do in Shadows”.

Sunt nominalizati si actorii Jeremy Allen White si Ayo Edebiri, alaturi de Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Lionel Boyce si Liza Colón-Zayas. Nominalizarile sunt pentru sezonul 2, difuzat in iunie anul trecut.

Intre timp, ieri pe Disney+ a fost lansat sezonul al treilea.

Favoritul anului si marea surpriza a listei este “Shogun”, productia disponibila pe Disney+ care a fost apreciata atat pentru partea vizuala si tehnica — costume, decoruri, imagine, sunet — dar si pentru regie si actorie. Printre cele 25 nominalizari se numara actorii Hiroyuki Sanada si Anna Sawai.

In ceea ce priveste Shogun, pentru „Cel mai bun serial drama” concureaza cu productii deja premiate precum “The Crown”, “The Morning Show” si “The Gilded Age” dar si “Fallout”, “Mr. and Mrs. Smith”, “Slow Horses” si “3 Body Problem”.

Lista favoritelor este completata de “Only Murders in the Building” cu 21 de nominalizari, inclusiv pentru prestatiile lui Meryl Streep si Selena Gomez, “True Detective: Night Country” si “The Crown” cu 19 nominalizari si “Fallout” cu 16.

„Feud: Capote vs. The Swans” a primit 10 nominalizari pentru regia lui Gus Van Sant, machiaj, coafuri, costume, coloana sonora dar si prestatiile lui Tom Hollander ca Truman Capote, Naomi Watts ca Babe Paley si Diane Lane ca Nancy Keith.

La actorie, la categoria dedicata femeilor, Jennifer Aniston si Reese Witherspoon sunt nominalizate din nou pentru “The Morning Show”, in timp ce Idris Elba  (“Hijack”), Gary Oldman (“Slow Horses”) si Dominic West (“The Crown”) concureaza la sectiunea dedicata barbatilor.

Cele 18 nominalizari pentru “The Crown” sunt surprinzatoare, tinand cont de criticile negative pe care le-a primit ultimul sezon al seriei din partea presei. Cele mai multe nominalizari sunt de fapt pentru departamentele tehnice si creative care au lucrat la episodul “Sleep, Dearie Sleep” (episodul 10, sezonul 6), insa au fost apreciate si prestatiile actorilor din rolurile principale si secundare — Imelda Staunton, Elizabeth Debicki, Lesley Manville si Dominic West —, inclusiv aparitia speciala a lui Claire Foy.

Anterior, „The Crown” a castigat 21 de premii Emmy pe parcursul a 5 sezoane.

Alt serial de epoca, The Gilded Age, are 6 nominalizari iar productia “Ripley” de pe Netflix are 12 nominalizari, printre care actorii Andrew Scott si Dakota Fanning. Scott este considerat favorit in categoria “Cel mai bun actor intr-o serie limitata, antologie sau film TV”.

Nominalizarile pentru Emmy 2024 sunt anuntate la mai putin de 7 luni dupa decernarea trofeelor pentru anul trecut.

Numarul mic de productii TV nominalizate — se poate observa cum majoritatea nominalizarilor s-au impartit intre 10 seriale TV — este justificat de grevele actorilor si scenaristilor din Hollywood care au paralizat industria cinematografica timp de cinci luni din 2023. De aceea, multe seriale care ar fi urmat sa fie filmate si lansate pana pe 31 mai 2024 (data de eligibilitate pentru nominalizari), au intrat in productie abia in prima parte a acestui an. Spre exemplu, „House of the Dragon” de la HBO, „The Boys” de la Prime Video si „Bridgerton” de la Netflix nu au fost eligibile pentru gala din acest an, deci vor intra in cursa pentru Emmy 2025.

De fapt, cea de-a 76-a editie a Premiilor Emmy care va fi transmisa in direct de la Peacock Theatre din Los Angeles pe 15 septembrie va fi a doua gala Emmy din acest an. Organizatorii se feresc sa o numeasca “Emmy 2024” deoarece a existat deja o gala cu acelasi nume.

Pentru nominalizarile de mai jos au votat aproximativ 24 000 de membri ai Academiei TV din SUA pentru 76 de categorii. In total au fost inscrise in competitie 229 de seriale de drama, comedie, emisiuni TV, documentare si filme de televiziune, cu 33% mai putin decat anul trecut.
